I was selling the 1130 into the local government and education market immediately after it was announced ... believe it or not for commercial applications. I found a terrific programmer in New York who could make it work ... sort of.

As a peddler, I asked how the number was decided upon. (I thought it would be great small talk with prospects.) I could not come up with anything but opinions and logical suppositions. The latter followed the number path downward 1600s to 1400s, and the 1200s and 1000s were already taken, so 1100 seemed logical. No one could even give me a guess at why the 30 designation.

I would love to hear something more authoritative, and the source that I never discovered back then.
