The first machine that IBM called a PC was (I think)
the IBM 5150.  But the IBM 5100 Portable Computer was
introduced in 1975, about the same era as the MCM/70,
and also provided APL!

Some the IBM 5100s were equipped with a GPIB (a.k.a.
IEEE-488 or HP-IB) interface for running lab
equipment.  

Portable?  Phil Smith told us (APL Bay Area Users'
Group) about carrying an IBM 5100 in a backpack on his
bicycle.  Just tried a search on "Phil Smith IBM 5100"
and the first hit is an account by Joey Tuttle:
