[inforoots] Colossus

I also visited Bletchley Park -- just a couple of days ago, even --  
and had a chance to talk to Tony. He wrote an emulator of the machine  
in JavaScript prior to rebuilding it in hardware, and this emulator  
is supposed to be available somewhere here: http:// 
www.codesandciphers.org.uk/ There's also some more info, videos,  
podcasts, etc.

Two thick books about Colossus were released almost simultaneously  
early this year, if anyone's interested:
- Jack Copeland's "Colossus: The secrets of Bletchley Park's  
codebreaking computers" (Oxford Press, ISBN 019284055X)
- Paul Gannon's "Colossus: Bletchley Park's greatest  
secret" (Atlantic Books, ISBN 1843543303)

I'm currently going through the former, to which many people  
contributed many chapters discussing various aspects of the machine  
and its operations within BP.

(I also enjoyed Bletchley Park's hands-on home computer museum --  
last photo.)
