Just back from a visit to the new San Jose city hall.
In the "Gallery" outside the council chambers there's
a great exhibit of historical material. An IBM 3800
(Coronado) is next to the reconstruction of this
country's first broadcast station at Charles Herrold's
wireless school. There's a section on the Muirson
Label Company with work by Ralph Rambo.

On the second floor an extensive assortment of
photographs lines the walls. I noticed that I could
make out most of the faces in the old panoramic photos
of school and work groups. But in a new photograph of
a school, most of the faces are lost in the crowd.
The problem may be exacerbated by use of a short lens,
but as a record of who's going to this school today, a
picture taken with an old-fashioned panoramic camera
would be a big improvement.

Anyway, if you're in downtown San Jose try to have a
look inside the new city hall. Curtis
